UPDATE Thanks to 'the Exilian'(via the 'contact form' above) for directing my attention to Temasek Review's publishing of the Support Water Festival initiative the day after it was dispatched by a2ed.com. See HERE As previous communication between a2ed and TOC/TR had always resulted in an email dispatched by either, and this was not forthcoming in this instance, it was assumed that it had been ignored. Hence, thanks to TR for publicising this article - albeit to abjectly poor response. But we are not about to fall for the usual strategy of whitewashing a main-fare fascist stance, as evidenced by their approach time and again, via the supply of side-dish egalitarianism. This acknowledged oversight on the part of a2ed does not, however, invalidate all previous points. That has to be proven, and not claimed via said oversight. As of today, the 'Support Water Festival' initiative has 3 members - 2 of whom are old personal (chinese) friends of ed. a2ed *******...

It's Chinglish, not Singlish.

Ever wonder how 'singlish' sounds so much like the way a chinese child speaks - like that child on the left? Not like a malay child, not like an indian child. The next time you speak 'singlish', just ask yourself how different it is from that little boy on the left. That indicates that 'singlish' is not actually 'singlish', but 'chinglish'. And this further indicates that the formation of this so-called colloquial and unofficial ‘national’ language indicates that non-chinese differences were not considered in its formation, which, incidentally, parallels the chinese-determined criteria of what alright and not alright in all other arenas. No wonder that the msn.com site for singapore is called ‘xin.msn.com’. If it is representative of anything, it is only of post-80s chinese self-absorption. Same goes for the ‘wit‘ which is typical of the wit in Chinese media and conversations. Childish, and has no resemblance with the higher level...

A brief discourse on the Scientific Method

Stating that the absence of a rational explanation for something is proof that it isn't true, is like determining that the ocean is a metre deep because my ruler has a maximum of a 100 centimetres. The tools of scientific analysis by the west can only measure that part of reality that their particular historical experience has given them the sense to discern. Just because it works some of the time, doesn't mean it works all of the time, and especially when their particular historical experience has itself curtailed their understanding of 'all'. All tools are invented by a particular History, nourished by all the experiences it contains, and impoverished by all that it doesn't.
